Rice Pudding

Rich golden brown aligns itself,
in patterns randomly,
atop production of rice and eggs,
old-fashioned enticement see.

Nutmeg breathes out its spicy waves,
while sweetness modifies.
Mellow, not inciting raves,
but warmly satisfies.

It takes over an hour;is it done?
"Just wait; it's not a race."
In nostalgia or just impatience,
it modestly takes its place.

So, Father, over gatherings,
where memories are renewed,
we bow our heads and thankfully,
repeat, "God bless our food."
